 River Rat & Cat

No one has ever understood the mysterious friendship of River Rat and Cat. Cat is imaginative, grand, fussy and thoroughly needy, while Rat is material, practical and thoroughly self-reliant. The day River Rat saved Cat from drowning in the river, they forged a unlikely friendship. But, their downstream neighbor, Dale Beaver must break up this friendship. He needs the one remaining tree on the river bank, so his dam will remain the tallest on the river.  But this tree is owned by Rat and home to Cat. Will Dale Beaver break up this friendship and convience Rat to sell him Cat’s home?

Christmas Carol

December 2 – 12, 2010

TheatreOCU Co-Pro - Burg Theatre

Highlighting all the scary, humorous and touching moments from the Dickens novel, this play tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, who loves nothing but money, and thinks that Christmas, and the spirit of generosity attached to it, are a "humbug!"  The ghost of his former business partner and three spirits visit him, with visions of Christmas past, present and future.  By the plays end, Scrooge is a changed man, having discovered the Christmas spirit that lives in us all.

Rough Night at the North Pole

December 3 – December 17, 2010

Children’s Center for the Arts

 A naughty little boy and his reluctant companion come to the North Pole to get even with Santa Claus. The boy wants revenge because Santa put coal in his stockings. (He must have been really bad because he was wearing them at the time!) The kids frame Santa and get him thrown in the North Pole jail. With Santa out of the way, the boy plans on taking his place and putting coal in the stockings of all the boys and girls in the world. But, in this riotous farce, Santa gets out in time to set things straight and ensure a Merry Christmas for one and all!

Inherit the Wind

February 10 – 13, 2011

TheatreOCU Co-Pro - Kirkpatrick Auditorium

The classic American drama based on the Scopes “Monkey” Trail of 1925, is a story about conflict in American culture.  Inherit the Wind opens after Bert Cates’ has been arrested for teaching evolution to his science class and refuses to admit he was wrong. Cates goes to trail and two attorneys battle, with Brady representing fundamentalism and Drummond advocating science and freedom of thought.  The whole town watches along with the world as this precedent-setting battle plays out.

The Planet of the Perfectly Awful People

The first girl into outer space, Abbie Anderson of Peach Grove, Pennsylvania, is on her way to Venus as Earth's goodwill ambassador. Suddenly her rocket ship goes off course and she crash-lands on the planet Meanus, home of three perfectly awful people: Lord Groucho, Lady Grumble and Sir Groan. Abbie is imprisoned with another intruder, Zebulon Zook from Mirth. In a literal battle of wits, the two youngsters out-duel their adversaries, who eventually learn that it's more fun to be good-natured than perfectly awful.
